About Us

Robin started her own private practice in the Bay Area in 2007 after managing a large practice there for many years. While building a reputation for excellence in her private practice, Robin expanded her practice to Southern California in 2015. Her passion continues to focus on working with adults and young people who stutter and those who have concomitant disorders. 

Now Robin works throughout the San Gabriel Valley area working with individuals and families needing support with stuttering issues, myofunctional difficulties as well as a wide range of speech and language disorders. She has valuable clinical experience in being a general practitioner for more than sixteen years. 



Background


Robin Ottesen is a licensed speech language pathologist. She is awarded with certified clinical competency (CCC) with the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She holds certifications and training in several disciplines including OroFacial Myofunctional Treatment including Buteyko breathing exercises, PROMPT, TalkTools (OPT), Medically Fragile Infant Care, SCERTS model, Lidcombe Stuttering Treatment Program, Successful Stuttering Management Program, Fluency Criterion Program. Robin also holds certification telepractice, following the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) guidelines.

Robin is on the executive board for The Center for Children Who Stutter, founded by Jeanna and Gyndon Riley. She is the Clinic Director for The Center for Children Who Stutter and leads a monthly National Stuttering Association (NSA) support group on the campus of California State University at Fullerton. Robin is an active volunteer in the California Speech and Hearing Association (CSHA), having served as district director and other state advisory committees and continues in other leadership positions within the association.She also holds memberships in the San Mateo County Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Santa Clara County Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the American Academy of Private Practice in Speech Language Pathology (AAPPSPA). 

Robin has taught at San Jose State University and supervised Masters students in their Fluency Clinic. She has also provided consultative services to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University.

Robin has extensive background in working in dozens of public and private school settings, working with moderate to severe classrooms providing meaningful multidisciplinary support, assistive technology and alternative/augmentative communication. During her career, Robin has also enjoyed working in a variety of clinic and hospital settings. 

Robin’s background includes a wide variety of skills in the area of speech language pathology. She studied music at Brigham Young University. She later received her masters degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Utah. 

Robin provides workshops on voice, stuttering, assistive technologies and career mentoring.
